The Boys & Girls Clubs of Martin County

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Martin County (BGCMC) was honored with the
Board Team of the Year award and the best Sports, Fitness & Recreation
program award at the annual Florida Area Council meeting held at
Captiva Island on August 25-27, 2011.

“We are only able to make an impact on the thousands of Club Members
we serve each year because we are blessed with such a dedicated,
outcome-focused board and program staff,” said Anne McCormick, BGCMC’s
Executive Director. “Each day, BGCMC gets stronger and more effective
as a result of their exemplary leadership and hands-on engagement with
all aspects of Clubs.”

BGCMC’s Board Team was recognized for overseeing the Clubs’ three-year
strategic plan; its extraordinary contributions to BGCMC’s capital
campaign in Indiantown; its participation in the Clubs’ planned giving
program; the support and guidance it provides to BGCMC’s marketing and
public relations efforts; and the initiative it demonstrated in
helping forge collaborative partnerships with businesses and other
non-profits that BGCMC now enjoys.

The Sports, Fitness & Recreation program award was given to BGCMC for
the achievements exhibited by its girls’ basketball program, the Lady
Heat. The team of sixth and seventh graders participated in the
competitive United States Specialty Sports Association league and was
acknowledged by its rivals for the extraordinary, unparalleled level
of sportsmanship it displayed throughout the season.
